Ormeau rail facility works: what to expect in November

What’s happening at the Ormeau rail facility in November, possible Goldmine Road lane closures, and a pop-up info session on 30 November.

Construction at the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program rail facility, Ormeau

Construction is continuing on the new Queensland Train Manufacturing Program rail facility at Ormeau. Here’s what’s planned for November and how it might affect getting around.

November works

Getting around

Expect low levels of noise, dust and vibration. All site vehicles use the temporary construction access via Prairie Road. On the TMR and City of Gold Coast Goldmine Road upgrade, single-lane closures, traffic controllers and reduced speed limits may be in place during work hours, with advance notice of any changes to road layouts or access.

If your staff, customers or deliveries use these roads, give them a heads-up and allow a little extra time.

Work hours are 6.30am–6.30pm Monday to Saturday (Queensland Rail crews 6.30am–5pm, seven days), and some out-of-hours work may happen on site, such as concrete pours.

Pop-up info session

Drop in and chat with the project team from 9–10.30am on Monday 30 November 2026 at Norfolk Village State School, 83 Halfway Drive, Ormeau.
